Supplies to Elevate Hanging Christmas Stockings

1″ velvet ribbon

-set of antique bells; I used three per stocking

-Christmas wire ornament hooks; I used 3 per stocking

First, I wanted the stockings to align with my Old World Christmas theme this year. I added vintage and thrifted finds in addition to dried florals and oranges. Rich velvet ribbons and bows contribute to the classic look of the theme and provide a lovely contrast against the rough textures of the vintage items and dried florals.

Incorporating bronze bells adds a touch of tradition, especially when placed delicately on top of your stockings. I love the beauty and nostalgia that comes with this Old World Christmas theme!

Let’s combine two of these elements to elevate our hanging Christmas stockings.

Step 1: Add Ribbon

I bought this gorgeous 1″ wide velvet ribbon in the color “antique gold”. I cut long lengths of the ribbon, ensuring each piece was appropriately scaled to my specific stockings.

Next, I tied the ribbon into a bow with two long ribbon tails on either side. To secure the bows to the stockings, I decided to use ornament wire. I weaved the wire through the knot of each bow, then firmly wrapped it around the hanging loop of the stocking.

Step 2: Add Antique Bells

Once you have your velvet ribbon tied, it’s time to add the bells! I used a set of similar bells to make my DIY Christmas swag wreath a couples years ago.

These bells come in a set of 20 from Amazon. I hooked two bells onto one another using more Christmas ornament hanging wire, then added a second piece of wire with an additional bell so that it hung lower than the other two to provide some depth.

And there you have it! Easily elevate your hanging Christmas stockings with these 2 Amazon products and a few ornament hooks.

Enjoy the process,
